Why am I unable to clock-in/out successfully on my laptop?

In this article, we will go through the steps to ensure that your location gets captured accurately on your laptop.

If you are unable to clock-in/out successfully, you need to enable location tracking permission through your system and your browser.

Here are the potential reasons why you are unable to clock-in/out.

  • You are not present within your assigned work address area. You may speak to your company admin to mark your clock as valid if your manager is aware of your situation.

  • If you are present within your assigned work address area for your geofencing policy and you are unable to clock-in/out using your laptop, you would need to follow the steps given below.

  • If you are trying to clock-in/out using your phone please refer to the steps on how you may clock-in/out successfully using a phone.

  • Your work location GPS may itself be invalid. Your admin may validate the GPS directly on google maps. Following this, your admin may increase the radius of the policy by referring to the steps on how an admin may edit a geofencing policy

Here is a step-by-step guide to follow if you are attempting to clock-in/out using your laptop.

Step 1: Enable location permission on your system.

Steps are provided for Mac users and Windows users below.

Steps to be followed if you are a Mac user.

  • Go to your System Preferences.

  • Go to the Security and Privacy option.

  • Go to the Privacy option -> Location Services.

  • Click the Lock icon to unlock it so you may make your changes.

  • Click on the checkbox to Enable Location Services -> Click on the checkbox to enable location services for the browser you use. E.g., Google Chrome, Safari.

  • Click on the lock icon to save your changes.

Steps to be followed if you are a Windows user.

  • Click on the Start icon -> Go to your Settings -> Select the Privacy option.

  • Select the Location option under App permissions.

  • In the Allow access to location on this device option, click on the Change button and enable location access for your device by ensuring the toggle button displays the On option.

  • In the Allow apps to access your location option, please ensure that the toggle button displays the On option.

  • Please clear your location history by clicking on the Clear button.

  • You may Choose which apps can access your precise location by ensuring the toggle button displays the On option next to your browser name.

Step 2: Enable location permission on your browser.

Steps are provided for Chrome and Firefox users below.

Steps to be followed if you are a Chrome user.

  • Click on the Lock icon to the left of the web address -> Click on Site settings.

  • Choose the Allow option for enabling Location permission -> Reload the Asanify portal and try clocking in/out again.

Steps to be followed if you are a Firefox user.

  • Click on the lock icon to the left of the web address -> Click on the Connection Secure option -> Click on the More information option.

  • Click on the Permissions tab -> Go to the Access your location option and uncheck the Use default checkbox -> Choose the Allow option -> Reload the Asanify portal and try clocking in/out again.

Step 3: More options on how you may ensure your location is accurate.

  • If you have followed all the steps given above but your location is still displaying inaccurately, you may try to clock-in/out with a different browser.

  • Please ensure that your internet connection is strong.

  • You may restart your computer/phone and then try to clock-in/out.
