This is available only for a Payroll Admin, not HR. It also only appears for a regular employee's payslip from a payroll run Asanify itself calculated — not for a contractor's invoice, an off-cycle or consolidated run, or a payslip that was uploaded rather than run in Asanify. If the employee has no earlier regular payslip in the same legal entity to compare against, or if the payroll month has more than one regular run for them, the option does not appear either.
Step 1 - Open the payslip
Go to Payroll › Payslips, then pick the employee and the payslip period you want to look at.
Step 2 - Open "Why pay changed"
Click More, then Why pay changed vs {earlier month}. It is the last item in the menu, below Download Tax Calculations, and carries a New tag. If Asanify has already worked out how much the total payable changed, the same option also appears as a one-line message above the payslip itself, for example "Total payable is ₹2,896.00 less than Aug 2026" with a Why pay changed button. Either one opens the same screen. If the amount could not be read, the message still offers the button, just without a figure.
Step 3 - Read what changed
This opens a new page titled Why {employee}'s pay changed, already set up to compare the payslip you were looking at against the employee's earlier one. This is a one-employee version of comparing past payruns; from here you can also click Download statement to save a PDF of the comparison.
