Prerequisites
Before using relative date filters:
You must have Admin access to Asanify
You must be on an analytics report page (People, Payroll, Leave, Attendance, Expense, Hiring, Workflow, Performance, or LMS)
Step 1 - Navigate to Analytics
Log in to Asanify with your admin credentials
Click on Analytics in the left navigation menu
Select the specific analytics module you want to view (e.g., People, Payroll, Leave, etc.)
Step 2 - Locate the Date Range Filter
On the analytics report page, look for the filters section at the top
Find the date range filter field (usually labeled Date Range, Payroll Process Dates, Date, or similar depending on the report type)
This filter allows you to specify which time period's data you want to analyze
Step 3 - Click on the Date Range Filter
Click on the date range filter input field
A date picker dialog will appear with options to select dates
Step 4 - Choose Relative Date Option
Instead of selecting specific calendar dates, you can use relative date options:
Look for the relative date selection controls in the date picker
You'll see options to choose:
In the next N [time unit] - for future dates
In the last N [time unit] - for past dates
In the last calendar month - for the previous full calendar month
In the current calendar month - for the ongoing calendar month
Note: The specific relative date options available may vary depending on the type of analytics report you're viewing.
Step 5 - Select the Time Period Type
If using "in the next" or "in the last" options:
Enter a number in the value field (e.g., 7, 30, 90)
Select the time unit from the dropdown:
days - for day-based ranges
weeks - for week-based ranges
months - for month-based ranges
Example: To see data from the last 30 days, select "In the last" with value "30" and unit "days"
Step 6 - Apply the Filter
Once you've configured your relative date selection, the filter display will show your selection (e.g., "In the last 30 days")
The system automatically calculates the actual date range based on today's date
Click the Load Report or Apply button (if available) to refresh the report with your selected date range
Step 7 - View Your Filtered Report
The analytics report will now display data for your selected relative date range
The report will automatically include the calculated date range in the results
You can export or analyze the data as needed
Additional Information
Benefits of Using Relative Dates
Dynamic Updates: Relative date filters automatically adjust each time you view the report. For example, "last 7 days" always shows the most recent 7-day period without manual date updates.
Consistency: When comparing data over time, relative dates ensure you're always looking at equivalent time periods (e.g., always the last 30 days).
Saved Filters: If you save a report view with relative dates, it will continue to work correctly over time without modification.
Switching Between Relative and Absolute Dates
You can switch between relative dates and specific calendar dates at any time
Simply click on the date filter again and either:
Choose a new relative date option, OR
Select specific start and end dates from the calendar
Common Relative Date Selections
Recent Activity: Use "In the last 7 days" to see the most recent week's data
Monthly Reports: Use "In the current calendar month" to see month-to-date data, or "In the last calendar month" to see the previous full month
Quarterly Analysis: Use "In the last 90 days" to approximate a quarter
Custom Periods: Use "In the last N weeks" where N = 4, 8, or 12 for monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly views
Troubleshooting
Filter not applying: Make sure you've completed all required fields in the filter and clicked the Load Report button if present.
No data showing: Your selected date range may not contain any data. Try expanding the date range or selecting a different time period.
Filter options not visible: Ensure you have admin access and are on a supported analytics report page. Not all reports may support all relative date options.
Tips for Effective Use
Use relative dates when creating recurring reports that you check regularly
Use specific calendar dates when you need to analyze a particular historical period
Combine date filters with other filters (employee, department, status) for more targeted insights
Save your filter combinations as presets if your analytics module supports it
