A goal owner may choose to assign weights to a goal's key results after the goal has been created and key results have been added. You may refer to the Steps on how to create a goal and add key results here.
By default, every key result will have equal weightage for a goal. You may choose to assign weights to key results as per your requirements by following the steps given below.
Here is a step-by-step guide.
Step 1: Go to the Goals and OKRs tab and enable weighted key results.
Step 2: Update weights for the key results.
Step 1: Go to the Goals and OKRs tab and enable weighted key results.
Click on the Goals and OKRs tab in the left navigation bar -> Click on the View/Edit button for the goal for which you wish to update the key result.
Click on the Update Goal Details button on the right side of the screen.
You will notice that there is a question that states 'Does this goal have weighted key results?' By default, No will be selected. When the default is No that means that each key result has equal weightage.
Choose the Yes radio button to enable weighted key results for your goal -> Click on Update Goal.
Step 2: Update weights for the key results.
Click on the Update Weights button which will now be present in the top right corner of the Key Results box.
The goal for which I have chosen to add weighted key results currently has 2 key results already present. Therefore, by default, the weights will display as 50% for each key result. Please note that the total sum of weights for the key results has to be 100%.
You can now add new weights for your key results. I have chosen 70% weightage to be given to my first key result and 30% weightage has been assigned to my second key result. Since 70% + 30% = 100% I can now go ahead and click on the Update Weights button.
You will notice that the goal progress circle which was previously 80% is now displaying 72%. This is because I have assigned weights and my first key result was assigned 70% and my second key result was assigned 30%.
The goal progress circle gets updated proportionately as per the weights assigned.
You may add a new key result or delete an existing key result after you have assigned weights to your key results.
After you add a new key result the weights of the existing key results will decrease proportionately to accommodate the newly added key result. This will be done to ensure that the total weightage of all the key results equals 100%.
After you delete a key result, the weights of the existing key results will increase proportionately. This will be done to ensure that the total weightage of all the key results equals 100%.
